Project Overview

Barcos Holdings Ltd is proud to announce the commencement of the Design and Construction of a modern roof structure over the existing outdoor basketball court at the International School of Kigali (ISK). The project covers the complete engineering lifecycle, including architectural design, structural design, statutory approvals, building permit acquisition, construction, quality assurance, and final handover. The project aims to provide a durable, weather-protected sports facility that enhances the learning environment while meeting high engineering, safety, and quality standards.

Current Progress

As of the first week of implementation, significant progress has been achieved. Following contract commencement on 3 August 2026, the project team mobilized to site, established temporary site facilities, installed safety signage and project information boards, secured the work area with perimeter fencing, and commenced engineering setting-out works using surveying equipment. Excavation of foundation footings has begun in accordance with the approved structural layout, ensuring precise positioning of the future steel columns.

Health, Safety and Environmental Management

Safety remains a core priority throughout the execution of the project. The site has been fenced to restrict unauthorized access, workers are equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), warning signs have been installed, and construction activities are being executed under professional supervision. These measures ensure compliance with good construction practice while minimizing disruption to school operations.

Next Activities

Over the coming weeks, the project will progress through completion of foundation excavations, reinforced concrete foundation works, anchor bolt installation, erection of structural steel columns and roof trusses, installation of purlins and sound insulation, roofing works, electrical installation including lighting and earthing, painting, quality inspections, testing, site clean-up, and practical handover.
